According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina are close to signing Krzysztof Piatek as Arsenal look to poach the Serie A side’s talisman, Dusan Vlahovic.
What’s the story?
Well, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal recently made a €70m (£59m) bid for Vlahovic, with the Gunners targeting a January move.
We are yet to hear how Fiorentina responded to the offer, although the fact they’ve now moved to sign Piatek is particularly interesting.
Di Marzio believes the Poland international will undergo a medical at Fiorentina today, ahead of a six-month loan deal.
The Italian side hold a €15m (£13m) option to buy.
It comes after Fiorentina also added Jonathan Ikone to their ranks this month, adding another interesting dimension to Arsenal’s pursuit of Vlahovic.
Are Fiorentina already spending Arsenal’s money? Only time will tell.
Dusan Vlahovic will thrive at Arsenal

If Mikel Arteta and Edu can lure the Serbia international to the Emirates Stadium this month, it would be a phenomenal signing.
Few players have scored more goals than Vlahovic across the past two seasons – he has been utterly prolific.
The 21-year-old scored 21 goals in Serie A last term, and is already close to matching that tally this season with 16 goals in 20 Serie A games.
His efforts earned him the Serie A Young Player of the Year award in 2021.

Vlahovic excels inside the box, where his movement gets him on the end of cross after cross after cross – players like Kieran Tierney will love him.
Alongside gems of a similar age, such as Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, Vlahovic has the chance to spearhead an incredibly exciting, young side.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Piatek may be arriving to replace Vlahovic rather than to play alongside him.
