Tottenham Hotspur are refusing to budge over their agreed asking price for defender Cameron Carter-Vickers after Celtic opens talks over a permanent deal.

Sky Sports claim that Celtic have started negotiations to try and land Carter-Vickers on a full-time basis.

Carter-Vickers joined Celtic on loan back on deadline day in August and has been shining at Parkhead.

Celtic unsurprisingly want to sign Carter-Vickers permanently, but they won’t be getting any kind of discount.

A fee of £6million is agreed in Carter-Vickers’ loan deal, meaning Celtic will have to cough up to sign him.

Tottenham are offering ‘no wriggle-room’ as things stand with Daniel Levy sticking to the optional price agreed in August.

That’s a problem for Celtic given that they also want to activate the £6.5million permanent option in Jota’s loan deal.

Signing both Jota and Carter-Vickers permanently would cost north of £12million – a significant outlay for Celtic.

Tottenham want to raise funds for Antonio Conte, so aren’t exactly minded to cut the asking price any time soon.

Celtic must now make a decision. Do they prioritise Jota now and leave the Carter-Vickers situation to run? That seems most likely at the moment, with no price reduction coming from Tottenham.
