Newcastle United now have a belief that they can progress quickly with a deal for Everton left back Lucas Digne after tying up Kieran Trippier.

The Telegraph claim that Digne will be one of Newcastle’s next main targets with Trippier all but snapped up.

Trippier is expected to complete his move from Atletico Madrid imminently, with Newcastle then turning to Digne.

Newcastle allegedly believe they can get Digne in quickly to make it two swift signings to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad.

Sky Sports have added to the Digne reports, claiming Everton are seeking a fee of around £30million for the Frenchman.

That’s a healthy profit on the £18million Everton paid to sign Digne from Barcelona in 2018.

The same report claims that Chelsea, West Ham United and one other Premier League club are interested in signing Digne.

Newcastle would therefore be striking quite the coup if they can lure Digne up to St James’ Park.

Digne has been out of the Everton side of late, seemingly falling out of Rafael Benitez’s plans.

That notion is only supported by the signing of left back Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev.

Digne may now need to leave Everton to play first-team football, and Newcastle can offer that.

The prospect of Trippier down the right and Digne down the left should be very exciting for Newcastle fans, with both full backs providing quality service into the middle whilst being Premier League regulars.
