Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim that Juventus have given Aaron Ramsey a total of 48 hours to find himself a new club. The Welshman wants to return to the Premier League, with both Newcastle and Aston Villa recently linked.
Ramsey, 30, has endured a difficult time in Turin. Joining the Old Lady in the summer of 2019 from Arsenal on a free transfer, he has only managed 70 appearances in all competitions – scoring just six goals.
This season, he has only managed to add five outings to the 65 from the first two seasons. It is a stark contrast to his stunning Arsenal form, where he had a hand in 130 goals in 371 games from midfield.
He is out of contract in 2023, and Juventus have granted him 48 hours to find a new club – from Monday evening. Sport Mediaset said earlier this week that Steven Gerrard wants him at Villa, with Newcastle also keen.
Villa or Newcastle boost: Ramsey needs to go, and quickly
He needs to get out of Juventus at the earliest opportunity. The less he plays, the more his lack of momentum will grow. It will begin to affect the second half of his career, and his form with Wales – something he clearly loves.
A return to the Premier League is best for Ramsey and Gerrard is known to be a fan. The report from CM state that Ramsey is unconvinced by a move to Newcastle, due to their perilous situation in the relegation zone.
But Ramsey should not be so quick to judge. Ultimately, he needs to get out of Juventus to save his career and if that is to Newcastle – then so be it. A move to Villa would also be a good deal for the Juventus midfielder.
