According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal have submitted a €70m (£59m) bid to sign Dusan Vlahovic, who Tottenham and Newcastle also want.
What’s the story?
Well, this is pretty big news for Arsenal.
Gazzetta dello Sport believe the Gunners have decided they want Vlahovic immediately, and have lodged a significant offer for the 21-year-old.
It comes amid doubts over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future at the Emirates Stadium, after a fallout with Mikel Arteta.
Despite Arsenal’s £59m bid, Gazzetta dello Sport warn that Tottenham must also be paid some attention in this transfer battle.
Elsewhere, it was The Sun who claimed that Newcastle have scouted Vlahovic, and are keen to bring him to the Premier League.
After scoring 21 goals in Serie A last season, the Fiorentina No.9 has continued his fine form with 18 goals in 22 games this term.
Vlahovic’s efforts in 2020/21 saw him named Serie A Young Player of the Year.
Arsenal need Dusan Vlahovic

You can understand why Arteta and Edu are keen to sign Vlahovic immediately.
The Gunners currently have some issues in the centre-forward department, with a number of players in difficult situations.
As aforesaid, Aubameyang has been dropped by Arteta for disciplinary reasons, and it remains to be seen if there’s a way back for the 32-year-old.

Additionally, Alexandre Lacazette’s deal expires in June, as does Eddie Nketiah’s contract – realistically, Arteta could lose all three of his centre-forward options in 2022.
Therefore, it is imperative that a new striker arrives in north London.
If that man turns out to be Vlahovic – one of the most prolific frontmen in Europe – Arsenal would have a frightening team packed full of exciting youngsters.
