The report has claimed that Villa and Wolves have made contact in regard to signing Gabriel Barbosa this month.

Chelsea have also made contact, and so have West Ham United and Newcastle United, according to the report.

The Hammers and the Magpies are claimed to be the two most advanced sides in talks regarding a January transfer for ‘Gabigol’.

Would Gabriel Barbosa make Aston Villa or Wolves better?

90min are reporting that Gabriel Barbosa would cost £30 million, a transfer fee that Villa and Wolves could easily pay.

After all, the Villas and the Wanderers are rich and established Premier League clubs.

Flamengo are also reportedly open to an initial loan deal for the 25-year-old Brazil international striker.

Wolves are not scoring enough goals, and it is clear that head coach Bruno Lage needs an alternative striker to Raul Jimenez.

Gabriel Barbosa has scored has 29 goals and provided nine assists from 43 appearances in all competitions for Flamengo this season.

The striker has scored 103 goals in 145 games for the Brazilian club.

Villa do have two very good strikers in Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins, so spending £30 million on another player upfront in the middle of the season might not be a great idea.
