Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has admitted that he may not be able to keep hold of Newcastle United target Kieran Trippier.
Atletico took on Madrid rivals Rayo Vallecano today and came away with a 2-0 victory thanks to two Angel Correa goals.
One interesting note was that defender Trippier started the game despite suggestions that he could be heading to Newcastle.
Newcastle made their first bid for Trippier on Saturday according to Sky Sports, but that didn’t stop Simeone picking him.
After the final whistle, Trippier was seen taking his time to leave the pitch as he applauded all sides of the Wanda Metropolitano.
Some will wonder whether Trippier was effectively saying goodbye to Atletico ahead of joining Newcastle this week.
Simeone was then asked about Trippier after the game, with many keen to know whether this is goodbye.

Simeone praised Trippier, calling him ‘extraordinary’ whilst speaking to AS.
The Argentinian added that he hopes Trippier stays, but nobody can stay forever – seemingly hinting that Newcastle may just get their man.
“He is an extraordinary player, he has always given us very good things,” said Simeone.
“He is important to us. It will depend on him what happens. We want him to stay and we will look for him, but no one can be kept for life,” he added.
