Alan Shearer doesn’t think Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has a ‘negative’ to his game, as he told Amazon Prime.

The Premier League’s all-time record goalscorer added that the Liverpool academy product is ‘absolutely superb’.

For yet another Premier League season, Alexander-Arnold is near the top of the assists charts.

The England international has eight assists to his name from 17 matches and he will be looking to get into double figures once again.

Shearer would have scored even more than the 260 he bagged during his career had he played alongside a player of TAA’s crossing ability

And he praised the 23-year-old for what he produces from the flanks and what you would think as a centre-forward playing with him.

“He’s fantastic at that (crossing),” said Shearer. “He’s not too bad at free-kicks, either. So, he is an amazing player.

“When you are a centre-forward in a team and that ball gets into that position. When you make that run, you want to know, you need to know that the ball is going to be delivered into the right area.

“There aren’t many times that he fails in doing that. He is absolutely superb. There aren’t many negatives, if any, in his game.”

Alexander-Arnold will need to produce his magic on Sunday when his Liverpool side travel to Stamford Bridge for a crucial clash against Chelsea.

This is huge in the title race because Manchester City are eight points clear of their title rivals.

Added with that, a defeat for either Chelsea or Liverpool will probably knock them out of the race heading into 2022.

Either way, both teams go into that fixture having dropped points in midweek and they will be looking to pick themselves up from the footballing canvas.
