Ian Wright has praised Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli on Match of the Day on BBC One (11:15pm, December 26, 2021).

The MOTD pundit was impressed by the enthusiasm and energy that Martinelli showed during Arsenal’s win against Norwich City on Boxing Day.

Arsenal got the better of Norwich City 5-0 away from home at Carrow Road in the Premier League on Sunday.

Martinelli, who has been playing well for Arsenal in recent weeks, did not score, but Gunners legend Wright was impressed by the 20-year-old’s hard work.

While looking at Bukayo Saka’s first goal in the sixth minute, Wright said on MOTD: “You look at Martinelli here, his enthusiasm and his aggression and running, he won the ball back.”

Gabriel Martinelli is an Arsenal gem

In our opinion, Martinelli is a very good and promising young forward who has become an important player for Arsenal.

The omission of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the team has allowed the Brazilian the chance to establish himself in the starting lineup.

Now, Martinelli is not an out-and-out striker; he is a ‘forward’.

However, the youngster’s goal-return is pretty impressive.

The Arsenal no. 35 has scored four goals and provided two assists in eight Premier League starts so far this season.

In our view, there is a lot more to come from Martinelli, who can become a superstar for Arsenal in the coming years.
