Twitter users are engaged in discussions surrounding the game between the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks announcement after witnessing Aqib Talib’s commentary.
Some are of the opinion that Aqib is one of the best announcers of all time, but a few feel otherwise. Meanwhile many are wondering who he is and why he’s trending on social media.
Who is Aqib Talib?
Aqib is a former American football cornerback. He played at the University of Kansas and was later drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
The 35-year-old former footballer made his debut as an analyst on FOX in 2020. He announced a game between Detroit and Washington.
Aqib retired in September 2020, saying his heart wasn’t in the game anymore. In a video posted on Twitter, he said, “Aqib Talib is officially retired, and I’m bringing my talents to the booth. Football gave me so much in life.”
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Aqib has an estimated net worth of $20 million.
Announcer trolled for COVID-19 comment
Tonight’s game was broadcast on FOX and saw Aqib serve as the analyst while Megan Olivi was the sideline reporter.
However, he seems to have irked a few with one of his comments about COVID-19.
During his commentary, the former footballer said, “That’s the good thing about COVID.”, which has many calling him the “worst” analyst.
Nevertheless, some feel he still did a great job as an announcer, asking Fox if they can have him on every game.
Twitter is divided over the commentator
Some NFL fans are of the opinion that Aqib has a “nice flow and delivery”, but a few feel he shouldn’t be announcing anymore.
One tweeted, “Aqib Talib is a terrible announcer lol”
Another said, “Aqib Talib has permanently damaged my hearing. #Bears”
One football fan who actually enjoyed Aqid wrote, “I enjoyed aqib talib reporting the game tho that was fun”
“I love Aqib Talib because he sounds like a regular guy commentating on the game,” read one tweet.
