Some Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the news that Steven Gerrard will not be on the touchline against Chelsea at Villa Park on Boxing Day.

Steven Gerrard absent for Aston Villa v Chelsea

Ville are due to face Chelsea at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 5:30pm UK time.

Villa have announced on their official Twitter page that head coach Gerrard will not attend the Premier League game.

That’s because the Liverpool legend is isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.

The match still is going ahead.

Aston Villa fans react

And, as you can see from the tweets below, some Villa fans are disappointed at that.

They would like the match to be postponed.

Now, as things stand, that is unlikely to happen.

Chelsea will head into the match against Villa as favourites.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are not exactly in great form at the moment, and there have also been COVID-19 cases in the Chelsea squad in recent times.

However, Chelsea do have the better players, and, in our view, they should win the match against Villa.

Not having Gerrard on the touchline will be a blow for the Villans.

Now, of course, Michael Beale and Gary McAllister are capable coaches, but they are not Gerrard.
