Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has claimed that Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Arthur Melo from Juventus.
Arthur has been strongly linked with a Premier League move for a little while now, but it seems as though it’s the Gunners who have been given a golden opportunity to bring him in.
The Brazilian hasn’t played much football in Serie A this term, appearing just six times for Juventus, and it seems as though the Italian giants are ready to ship him out.
What’s been said about Arthur?
Castles shared what he knows about the Brazilian, claiming that he has been offered to Arsenal.
“Allegri is unhappy with his midfield at Juventus, they have a number of highly paid individuals in the midfield, so you have Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Arthur Melo,” Castles said.
“Allegri wants as many of those three out as possible, he actually rates Arthur as a player more than the other two, but he’s not impressed by his behaviour off the field, so he’s willing to cash in.
“Ideally they would sell, but they’re offering Arthur on loan and they’ve offered him around to clubs in Europe. Sevilla have expressed an interest and they’re waiting to hear back whether or not Arsenal will go for that move.”

Worth a punt
Arthur is a player who is certainly worth taking a punt on, especially on loan.
This is a tremendously talented footballer, he’s played Champions League football for both Juventus and Barcelona, and while he’s lost his way a bit, he’s still technically excellent.
Mikel Arteta’s system could bring the best out of him, and with the Gunners struggling to get to grips with who they want in their midfield, this could be a very logical signing.
