Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to a transfer story involving Ousmane Dembele.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte views the France international as a ‘dream signing’.

Spurs might be in the market for a new winger in light of speculation that Steven Bergwijn could quit North London during the January transfer window.

Dembele is out of contract at Barcelona next summer and although it has been reported that he’ll be signing an extension, the fact he’s made it to being six months from a free agent indicates that these rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt.

As brilliant as the former Borussia Dortmund attacker is, Dembele’s injury record is a huge concern since joining the Camp Nou club in a £135 million deal four years ago.

Here is how Tottenham supporters reacted to the speculation about him joining the Lilywhites.

Reservations

The Tottenham fans are absolutely right to have reservations about Dembele.

As mentioned, his injury history is one of massive concern and honestly, the Lilywhites might consider passing on him.

However, there isn’t a huge degree of risk for the North Londoners and Conte.

With his contract expiring next summer, we’re talking about a minimal transfer fee if he goes in January.

In terms of financial deterents, the only thing to consider is that he’d probably have to be Spurs’ second-biggest earner in terms of salary, behind Harry Kane.

But as far as value goes, there might be little to lose and so much to gain in Dembele.

As mentioned, the man is only 24 years old with a frightening ceiling – especially under someone like Conte – if he could stay fit.

There’s a lot of pros and cons to this one but maybe, just maybe, Tottenham will consider the Barca star.
