Gabriel Martinelli has stated on Instagram that Eddie Nketiah is ‘on fire’ after his latest display for Arsenal.

On Tuesday evening, Nketiah struck a hat-trick for the north London club as they brushed aside League One Sunderland 5-1 in the EFL Cup.

Whilst Nketiah finds game time tough in the Premier League, he is certainly doing his talking in other competitions and showing his manager that he is still here.

The Hale-End star’s contract expires at the end of the season and there is talk of him possibly leaving in the summer on a free.

Whilst all that talk will continue to bubble in the background, Nketiah is also allowing his goals to hit the headlines.

After the game, he posted the following message to his supporters on Instagram, with several players praising him for his display.

Martinelli commented: “On fire brother.” Whilst Leeds player and his former teammate, Leif Davis, added: “What a player.”

Nketiah would now love to start Arsenal’s next game ahead of their Boxing Day showdown against Norwich City.

It should be a straightforward win for the Gunners against a side on another losing streak and sitting bottom of the table.

The problem Nketiah faces, after scoring his hat-trick last night, is that someone like Martinelli might just keep him out of the XI given his own form in the Premier League.

All in all, it’s a great headache for Mikel Arteta to have because he has so many options to choose from for those forward areas.
