Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could return to Tottenham Hotspur’s starting line-up against West Ham United tomorrow, the London Evening Standard report.

Back in contention

Hojbjerg’s run of 52 starts in a row for Tottenham in the Premier League actually ended at the weekend, as he was unavailable to play against Liverpool.

However, the Dane could come back into contention on Wednesday evening.

The Standard says that Hojbjerg is now fit and available again after making his return to training.

That will give Antonio Conte a real selection headache in midfield in the weeks ahead.

Increased competition

All of a sudden Tottenham have force competition for places in the centre of the pitch.

Before his injury Hojbjerg was one of the first names on Tottenham’s team sheet.

However, with Harry Winks and Dele Alli both impressing against Liverpool his starting spot doesn’t seem so secure.

If Hojbjerg is backed to start against West Ham he will, therefore, need to put in a performance as a reminder of his quality.

It remains to be seen just how seriously Conte will take the League Cup at Spurs.

But with Tottenham now in the quarter-final it may present a very good opportunity for him to deliver silverware in his first season at the club.
