Everton are back in the market for a new winger and are targeting a deal for Benfica wide man Everton Soares – maybe it’s meant to be!

This may sound like a very early April Fools’ joke, but Everton are indeed being linked with a move for Everton.

Brazilian news outlet UOL Esporte claim that Everton is unhappy at Benfica after just seven league starts this season.

Everton’s output in those games – two goals and three assists – is actually pretty good, but Jorge Jesus seems unconvinced.

UOL now claim that Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are both keen to rescue Everton in January.

In recent weeks though, Everton are understood to have rekindled their interest in the winger ahead of January.

Long-term target Everton once compared to Cristiano Ronaldo

Everton have been chasing their namesake winger for a while, with Carlo Ancelotti allegedly making a call to try and sign him in August 2020.

The Toffees missed out then, but may now have another chance to bring Everton to Goodison Park in a move that sounds truly hilarious.

Still, Everton is a major talent and Luiz Felipe Scolari claimed in 2020 that he reminds him of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Everton fans would no doubt love to have their own Ronaldo, and Everton joining forces with compatriot Richarlison could be hugely exciting.
