Newcastle United think that they will not be able to sign Dele Alli from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.
The Magpies reportedly want to sign Alli on a loan deal in January.
Newcastle’s view is to make the transfer permanent in the summer of 2022.
However, with Alli now back in the Tottenham team, Newcastle reportedly believe that they will not be able to bring the England international midfielder to St. James’ Park next month.
So, according to the report, Newcastle are ready to move to Plan B now.
Newcastle should maintain Dele Alli interest
In our view, Newcastle should maintain their interest in Tottenham midfielder Alli.
Yes, the midfielder did well against Liverpool in the Premier League at the weekend and Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte praised him, but it was only one match.
We need to see if the 25-year-old is able to maintain that consistency.
So, in our opinion, Newcastle should not give up on signing Alli just yet.
We think that Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and his staff should continue to monitor what happens with Alli.
