Serie A champions Inter Milan have been offered the chance to sign Arsenal’s Premier League hitman Alexandre Lacazette but, according to Inter Live, his wages could scupper the deal.

If Antonio Conte was still patrolling the San Siro touchline, barking and bouncing like the irritable little drill sergeant he is, you get the feeling that Inter would snap up Lacazette in an instant.

Conte, after all, appeared to make it his mission to bring as many good Premier League pros to Italy as humanly possible.

During his time as the Nerrazzuri boss, Conte signed Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian, Christian Eriksen, Victor Moses and Alexis Sanchez.

Lacazette, then, would have ticked a lot of boxes as far as the former Chelsea, Juventus and Italy boss was concerned.

Will Alexandre Lacazette leave Arsenal for Inter Milan?

The long-serving Arsenal striker will become a free-agent at the end of this season.

And, despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun, there appears to have been little movement on an extension.

According to Inter Live, Lacazette has been ‘offered’ to Inter ahead of the January transfer window.

Reading between the lines, it seems that his representatives are trying to find the France international a new club with just six months left on his Arsenal deal.

That is the job of an agent, after all.

Will Inter be priced out?

If Lacazette wants to continue his career in Milan, however, he will have to make a few compromises.

The report adds that the former Lyon captain earns £180,000-a-week at the Emirates. A salary that Inter see as ‘completely prohibitive’.

The Scudetto holders, remember, were forced to sell both Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi last summer after finding themselves in a precarious financial situation.

Then again, if Inter do show an interest in Lacazette, the 30-year-old may struggle to find another offer as good as this one.

Money is not everything.

Lacazette has won just two major trophies in his career (and no, we’re not counting the Community Shield, either the French or English version). But a move to Italy could give him the perfect opportunity to enhance his personal medal collection.
