Chris Sutton has stated that Ben Brereton Diaz should ’stay’ at Blackburn Rovers and try to help them to promotion amid interest from the likes of Leeds and Newcastle, as he told 606.
The former Rovers striker admitted that Premier League clubs will ‘clearly’ be in for the player given his current form.
Brereton Diaz has scored 19 goals for Tony Mowbray’s side in the Championship this season and they are in with a real chance of earning promotion.
Blackburn are sitting third in the table, one point behind second-placed Bournemouth and three points behind current leaders, Fulham.
As a result of that, Sutton, who won the Premier League title at Ewood Park, urged the 22-year-old to remain at the club beyond the January transfer window.
“It’s an interesting one because if you are Breraton Diaz, at this moment in time,” said Sutton. “He must be loving his football at Blackburn.
“Blackburn have a chance of getting back into the Premier League and clubs are clearly going to be in for him.
“You look at another one of my former clubs Norwich City, who are struggling to score goals. Now Brereton Diaz would be a good signing for Norwich.
“If I was Brereton Diaz, and the club has been good to him, and he has been good for the club. Blackburn Rovers are in a great position, they have brilliant momentum. I would stay and see it through.”

The problem facing Blackburn is that Brereton Diaz is out-of-contract at the end of the season.
Newcastle and Leeds are two clubs battling it out for his signature, according to Eurosport.
If one of those sides does put big-money on the table for his talents, then can Blackburn afford to turn it down?
On one hand, they have more chance of promotion with him in the team than without him, that’s a given.
But if they turn down big money for him, and don’t get promoted, then they will lose him for nothing in the summer.
