Harry Kane has stated that Andy Robertson told him that he didn’t think the Tottenham’s striker’s tackle on the Liverpool player was a foul, as he told Sky Sports.

Both Tottenham and Liverpool played out a pulsating 2-2 draw today, with Robertson getting sent off in the second half for his tackle on Emerson Royal.

Before Robertson could assist, score and get sent off in the second, there were cries for Kane to be shown a red card for his studs-up tackle on the Scotsman, which was given a yellow by Paul Tierney.

After the game, Kane shared what he thought about his own tackle and what Robertson told him.

“I thought it was a strong tackle,” said Kane. “But I thought I won the ball. Obviously, I haven’t seen it back.

“When you are playing against top sides and fighting for points all over the place, sometimes there are going to be strong tackles.

“They checked it, it stayed as a yellow card and we move on.

“From on the pitch, it didn’t feel like it (a red card). Even Andy on the pitch said ‘you just caught my foot, I didn’t think it was a foul’. Sometimes if you slow things down in football, it makes it look worse than what it is.”

Many will feel if Robertson deserves a red, then so does Kane because there wasn’t much difference between the two incidents.

In the end, especially the Kane tackle, it did have an effect on the game because if the England captain is sent off early on, then it’s a different ball game.

Overall, it was an outstanding performance from Spurs, and in truth, they will wonder how they didn’t score at least three or four more given the guilt-edge chance they had.

From Dele Alli’s shot being saved by Alisson Becker moments before Diogo Jota levelled the scores, to Heung-Min Son seeing his shot go wide after Kane put him through.

Then Kane himself missed a header from point-blank range and also saw his shot saved by Alisson when Dele Alli scuffed his pass to him.

It was a relentless and aggressive performance from Spurs, which in the long run, if they keep it up, it will benefit them.
