According to The Times, Newcastle United want to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo in January.
The centre-half is performing brilliantly for the Whites in the Championship right now, but he may well make an early return to the Premier League.
Tosin has plenty of experience in the top-flight. He spent last season as one of Fulham’s first-choice centre-halves alongside Joachim Andersen, and despite the London club’s relegation, he came away from the season with a lot of credit.
Arsenal were even credited with an interest in the summer, but a move never came to fruition, but now, Newcastle could swoop.
Tosin certainly won’t be cheap if Newcastle do want him in January. Fulham are on track for promotion and they know just how important the defender is to their team and their chances of returning to the Premier League.
So, what type of player would Newcastle be getting if they landed the 24-year-old? Well, they’d get a towering centre-half who loves to play out from the back.
However, one somewhat underrated aspect of Tosin’s game is his pace. Standing at 6 ft 5, the defender has an unbelievable stride length, meaning he can keep up with even the fastest forwards in the game.
Pep Guardiola even described him as ‘faster than people can believe’ during his time at Manchester City.
This could be a brilliant signing for Newcastle, but it may be tough for them to convince Fulham to sell one of their prized assets at this point of a campaign where they look almost nailed on for promotion.
