According to La Tercera, Antonio Conte has spoken to Arturo Vidal about joining him at Tottenham, and the Chilean gave an encouraging response.
What’s the story?
Well, this would be quite a signing for Tottenham.
La Tercera believe Conte got in touch with the 34-year-old to ask whether he’d like to play Premier League football in London.
Vidal is currently unhappy at Inter Milan, and is said to have expressed a desire to take the Italian up on his offer as he wants to play in the Premier League.
Despite his age, the 131-cap Chile international is still going strong and has made 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
However, most of those have come as a substitute, and the £1m man is unhappy with his role at the San Siro.
La Tercera add that Spurs face competition from Flamengo for the South American’s signature, and they’re preparing to offer him a ‘millionaire contract’ according to the report.
Should Tottenham sign Arturo Vidal?

In our view, this is hardly the most inspiring signing for Tottenham fans, although it may not be the worst idea on a one-year contract.
Additionally, Conte knows Vidal like the back of his hand – he has worked with the combative midfielder for many, many years.
Vidal has played 141 games under Conte for both Juventus and Inter Milan, scoring 36 goals while also providing 21 assists.

They won the Serie A title together last season – Inter Milan’s first since 2011 – while they also won three more Serie A titles at Juventus.
As Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli struggle, there’s no harm in bringing a trusted face to N17 while Conte attempts to find long-term solutions in midfield.
