Joey Barton has praised Leeds United fans on Twitter after the defeat to Arsenal.

Leeds have suffered a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal at Elland Road in the Premier League.

Arsenal were the better team over the course of the 90 minutes and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.

The Gunners had pretty much wrapped up the points in the first half.

However, the Leeds fans stuck with the team and gave them their full support.

And former Newcastle United midfielder Barton was impressed.

Tough times for Leeds

Leeds fans were brilliant against Arsenal, but the team were quite disappointing on the pitch.

Yes, the Whites had severe injury problems and had to use young players.

However, the Leeds fans would have wanted their team to do a bit more.

Leeds are very much in Premier League relegation battle at the moment.

Against Arsenal tonight, we saw how Leeds struggled to create chances and put goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale under pressure.

Leeds also gave away the ball cheaply, and that is why they conceded as many as four goals against Arsenal.
