Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to share an update on Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Xavi Simons, which may be of interest to Rangers fans.
What’s the story?
Well, it was AS who revealed that Simons is being targeted by Rangers, amid doubts over his future at the Parc des Princes.
The 18-year-old’s contract at PSG expires in June, and Romano believes he will leave for free if the French giants cannot give him first-team assurances.
You can see what the reliable Italian journalist wrote in full below.
So far this season, Simons is yet to make a first-team appearance under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Netherlands Under-19 international has, however, shone in the UEFA Youth League with three goals and six assists in six appearances.
Xavi Simons update should encourage Rangers

Let’s be blunt here – in our view, it’s highly unlikely PSG will give Simons a place in the first-team, despite his quality.
Pochettino has Marco Verratti, Gini Wijnaldum, Idrissa Gueye, Leandro Parades, Julian Draxler, Rafinha, Danilo and Ander Herrera to choose from, all of whom are experienced internationals.
If some of these players saw a teenager walk into the first-team ahead of them, then Pochettino might have a few angry knocks on his door.

In our view, Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to assume Simons won’t get his desired first-team place, and must put Rangers in a position to pounce.
The Amsterdam-born maestro has the potential to become one of the best midfielders on the planet.
If there’s even a 10% chance of bringing him to Ibrox, the Gers have to give it their best shot – it might be the only chance they get.
