It’s stated that sources in Italy believe Tottenham are ready to make Svanberg the first signing under Antonio Conte.
Manchester City have been scouting Svanberg too, but it’s Tottenham who are now favourites.
Who is Mattias Svanberg?
Svanberg, 22, came through the Malmo ranks before a £4 million move to Bologna in 2018.
On the international stage, Svanberg has notched 16 caps for Sweden and there are many more to come.
One of the key aspects in Svanberg’s game is his versatility. He has played a holding midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and even out wide.
Likely viewed as a more progressive midfielder to join Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg or Oliver Skipp in Tottenham’s midfield, Svanberg has thrived in Italy – making himself hard for Conte and Fabio Paratici to ignore.
Arsenal also fancy Svanberg
If Tottenham do land Svanberg, it may leave Arsenal very frustrated.
Italian newspaper Il Resto del Carlino reported in November that Arsenal want to sign Svanberg.
