Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Ibrahima Konate has been chatting about his former RB Leipzig teammate Naby Keita.
The Guinean has now played with Konate for two different clubs, and the Frenchman is a massive fan of the midfielder.
Indeed, Konate has had nothing but good things to say about Keita, describing the 26-year-old as ‘amazing’.
What’s been said about Keita?
Konate was waxing-lyrical about Keita.
“I don’t have the words to describe what he did in the German league, it was amazing,” Konate said.
The defender then opened up on the conversations he had with Keita about Liverpool before he made the switch to Anfield.
“Yes, I spoke a little bit with him. I never asked about the city because I come here for my job, to play football, I don’t speak with someone for going out. No, I don’t need this.
“But yes, of course, if I speak with him it’s about: how is the club? How is the mentality of the club? How are the players? How is the coach? Because if you don’t know someone he can say everything, anything, ‘Yes, I am like that.’ But you have to speak with someone who has been with him a long time, because he will tell you the truth. And yes, of course I asked some questions.”

Amazing
We may not have seen the best of Keita at Liverpool, but it has to be said that he was simply brilliant over in Germany.
There’s a reason the Reds opted to spend £53m on him back in 2018. He was absolutely flying in the Bundesliga.
He was running games in the midfield for Leipzig, and at one point he was scoring plenty of goals from the centre of midfield, netting eight in his first Bundesliga season.
Konate had a front-row seat to Keita’s brilliance, and it’s clear that the midfielder left a lasting impression on the centre-half.
