Newcastle United have made Lille star Sven Botman their top centre back target for January with Eddie Howe desperate for additions.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano at least, with the transfer insider making the claim on Twitter.
Romano claims Botman is ‘top of the list’ for Newcastle, who are ‘seriously interested’ in striking a January deal for the Dutchman.
Newcastle are waiting for information from Lille though. Lille’s financial situation isn’t great, but Newcastle are looking to hear what their position and price tag will be come January.
AC Milan are also keen on signing Botman, which is a recurring theme.
Jeunes Footeux in France claim that Newcastle and Milan are both chasing Everton defender Yerry Mina.
The two teams seem desperate to add a centre back in January and may be targeting the same players.
Who is Newcastle target Sven Botman?
Botman came through at Ajax before heading to Lille as a replacement for Gabriel Magalhaes in 2020.
The Dutchman, 21, has impressed during his time with Lille and is unsurprisingly attracting major interest.

Jose Fonte has branded Botman a ‘machine’, feeling he is the best of all his defensive partners over the years.
Toby Alderweireld, Virgil van Dijk, Pepe… they all sit behind Botman in the eyes of Fonte.
Tall and imposing as well as being capable on the ball as a left-sided centre back, Botman could become the complete package.
Botman represents an ambitious target for Newcastle, and a January deal would show that the Magpies mean business.
