Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that Alexandre Lacazette did everything he was asked to do against Southampton.
Arteta has raved about the France international striker and was impressed by his performance for Arsenal against Southampton.
Lacazette scored the opening goal in the 21st minute.
Arsenal won the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium 3-0.
Mikel Arteta on Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette
Arteta said about Lacazette: “I was really happy with him, he has done everything we asked him to do in the game.
“First of all he has come in and his defensive actions were top, and then the way he linked in, the way he understood the spaces and the threat that he was in the box.
“That’s why he scored the goal and he had opportunities to do that. He really affected the team and I am really pleased with him.”

Growing in importance
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not having the best of seasons.
In our opinion, Arsenal cannot reply on Aubameyang for the goals.
The Gunners need an alternative source for goals.
Lacazette could be that source.
The Frenchman is a very good striker who needs to start matches in order to score goals on a regular basis.
The Arsenal no. 9 has scored two goals in six Premier League starts so far this season.
Lacazette scored 13 goals in 22 Premier League starts for Arsenal last season.
We think that if Arteta plays the striker on a regular basis, then he will get even better at making an impact on matches.
Lacazette’s importance for Arsenal will only grow.
In our view, Lacazette should keep his place in the Arsenal starting lineup.
