Clinton Morrison was critical of Mateusz Klich game-changing tackle during Leeds United’s 3-2 defeat at Chelsea on Saturday, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports.

The former striker questioned why Klich was ‘kicking through the back’ of Antonio Rudiger in stoppage-time at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

During Leeds’ past two games, they have scored two stoppage-time goals, one of them from the spot, to secure a number of vital points.

But this time around, they got a taste of their own medicine when Klich’s rash tackle on Rudiger saw Jorginho score a late winner from the spot and his second of the game.

Klich had only been on the pitch for half an hour when he made the tackle and Morrison couldn’t believe what he was doing.

“Why is Klich kicking through the back of Rudiger,” said Morrison. “I do not know. It’s good play on the left-hand side, the ball comes in and Rudiger is going to take a touch.

“Klich tries to win the ball, he’s not going anywhere and kicks the back of his leg.

“I was thinking ‘it was never a penalty’. But, after watching the replay, it is soft. But it is a penalty – it was poor from Klich.”

This result would have hurt Leeds because judging by their performance, they deserved a lot more from the game.

Even though Marcelo Bielsa was without the likes of Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Copper and Rodrigo yesterday, they still produced a performance worthy of at least one point in the capital.

In the end, Leeds fans will be frustrated with the silly penalties they gave away and how they were possibly the best team from open play.

But they can’t dwell on it too long because their next step is an away clash at Manchester City.
