Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after watching Alexandre Lacazette score in the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Southampton.

What’s the story?

Well, Lacazette scored one of the goals of the season so far earlier today, when he rifled the ball into the top right corner in the 21st minute.

However, the buildup play was more impressive than the finish.

Mikel Arteta’s vision was there for all to see at the Emirates Stadium, as Aaron Ramsdale started what turned out to be a slick counter attack.

The £30m man played the ball out to Ben White, who popped a first time pass into Thomas Partey, who played a one-touch pass of his own out to Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Then, the Japanese full-back played a one-two with Martin Ødegaard, before setting Bukayo Saka off down the flank where he crossed for Lacazette.

It was arguably the best goal Arsenal have scored in 2021 – you can see what Lineker thought of the 21st minute moment below.

Just six minutes later, Ødegaard doubled Arsenal’s lead, making it three goals in three games for the Norway international.

Why can’t Arsenal do what they did to Southampton more often?

We’re now approaching the second anniversary of Arteta’s appointment, and we’re still hearing the word ‘process’ thrown around.

By this point of the Spaniard’s tenure, we should be seeing goals like this far more often than we do.

In fact, it shouldn’t even be something worth talking about two years into Arteta’s reign – it should be expected of his Arsenal team.

For whatever reason, Arteta just can’t seem to find any consistency with the Gunners.

It seemed as if Arsenal had turned a corner under the 39-year-old on their ten-game unbeaten run, but the embarrassing defeat to Everton raised question marks once again.

Hopefully, Arsenal can continue to tear teams apart like they did to Southampton on a regular basis, rather than in flashes of brilliance.
