Aaron Ramsey spoke to Juventus with his agent on Thursday to discuss his future with the Serie A giants, amid transfer interest from Everton and Newcastle, per TuttoMercatoWEB.
The Welshman visited the Bianconeri’s training base to meet with the club’s hierarchy for crunch talks over his situation. Massimiliano Allegri has only fielded the 30-year-old on five occasions so far his season for just 112-minutes across all competitions.
Ramsey has not featured in Serie A since September, either. He will also miss their clash with Venezia on Saturday as he continues to overcome an injury.
Fitness problems have blighted Ramsey’s Juventus career since leaving Arsenal at the end of his contract in 2019. His talks with the Old Lady on Thursday morning were held with the intention of now finding a mutually beneficial solution with continuation ‘really difficult’.
Reports by Calciomercato have also cited Ramsey’s talks with Juventus and note they could split as soon as January. The Turin outfit will continue to speak with the Welshman’s agent in coming weeks to try and find some middle ground on the terms of any separation.
Ramsey’s camp are loath to accept Juventus’ suggestion of terminating his £400k-a-week contract at the club. But Allegri hopes mid-season exits will free funds for his own signings.
Everton and Newcastle eying January transfers for Juventus outcast Ramsey
Everton and Newcastle will be paying close attention to Juventus’ meetings with Ramsey’s agent ahead of the January transfer window.
Reports by Calciomercato earlier this week claimed Everton have opened negotiations to sign Ramsey next month. The Toffees are speaking with the midfielder’s agent to stay up to date with his situation, as Juventus are open to a free transfer if he ends his contract early.
But Newcastle are also keen, with Calciomercato.it reporting the Toon are willing to pay Juventus and rival the €15m (£13m) Everton would put on the table for Ramey’s transfer.
