Trevor Sinclair believes Liverpool supersub Divock Origi would be a ‘great option’ for West Ham United, speaking to talkSPORT (8 December, 11.50am) ahead of the Premier League’s January transfer window.

Origi scored the winner as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool beat AC Milan away from home in their final Champions League group-stage fixture on Tuesday night.

Of course he did.

That’s just what Origi does these days; score dramatic, decisive goals just when Liverpool need him the most.

The problem is, with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota ripping through defences like a hurricane, Klopp just doesn’t ‘need’ Origi all that often.

The Belgian international has played just 38 minutes of top-flight football this season. Half of his four starts in all competitions have come in the EFL Cup, against Norwich City and Preston North End.

So with the transfer window coming up and with Origi’s contract expiring in July, an approach from West Ham United would give the most influential Liverpool substitute since the legendary David Fairclough a bit of a dilemma.

“I think he’d be a great option for West Ham,” says Sinclair, the Hammers legend.

“Origi has a decision to make. He’d be a great fit for West Ham (but) I don’t see Liverpool letting him go too soon in the window, especially if the African Cup of Nations go ahead.”

Liverpool will lose both Salah and Mane during the AFCON tournament. Origi, then, could still have a big role to play.

Could West Ham sign James Tarkowski and Divock Origi?

One player who could be on his way to the London Stadium, however, is James Tarkowski.

The England international will not extend a contract that is due to expire in eight months’ time. According to The Sun, West Ham are weighing up a cut-price £7 million bid for the rock-solid Burnley stopper.

“(Moyes) will probably be speaking to the board,” Sinclair adds after Kurt Zouma joined Angelo Ogbonna on the sidelines.

“Losing Ogbonna was a massive blow and then Zouma last week. Moyes will adapt. He’ll possibly change it to a (back) three.

“He’s got (Craig) Dawson and (Issa) Diop. There’s a lot of different options without going into the transfer market.

“I know James Tarkowski has been on the radar for quite a while. I can’t see Burnley letting him go with the predicament they’re in.

“It’s quite difficult to get top players in in January, especially if you don’t want to pay over the odds.”
