It’s increasingly likely that Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira’s loan at Fiorentina will be made into a permanent deal, according to Fiorentina News.

On the way out?

Arsenal loaned the Uruguayan to the Serie A side and included a buy clause worth around £13 million.

It was initially uncertain whether La Viola would be willing to pay Arsenal the money they wanted for the combative midfielder.

But his impressive start to life in Italy has led to the transfer becoming increasingly likely to take place.

If Torriera was to leave Arsenal permanently it is likely that the move would be considered a bonus by Mikel Arteta and Edu.

Torreira actually remains fairly popular among Arsenal fans, but Arteta has never seemingly seen him as a regular starter in his side.

He was loaned out to to Atletico Madrid last season, but the Gunners have struggled to shift him permanently.

Boost for Arsenal?

If Arsenal could raise a significant fee for him, as they seem set to do, it will therefore be a boost.

The Gunners could re-invest the cash in their own squad, which still needs further quality added.

If Torreira does go, a central midfielder may actually be right at the top of Arteta’s wishlist too.

Arsenal haven’t looked the most convincing in the centre of the pitch this season, with a number of their options in the position failing to find top form.
