According to Jeunes Footeux, Arsenal will have to pay a significant amount if they want to lure Jonathan David to the Emirates Stadium.

What’s the story?

Well, it was The Athletic who claimed that David is a long-term target for Arsenal, but Edu won’t be pleased to see how much Lille are demanding.

According to Jeunes Footeux, Lille don’t want to sell the 24-cap Canada international, but would listen to an offer of €55m (£47m).

That would represent a significant profit on the €30m (£26m) Lille handed Gent to bring David to France.

You can see why the Ligue 1 side are demanding such a huge fee.

So far this season, the 21-year-old is enjoying a breakthrough campaign with 13 goals in 23 appearances.

David has blossomed, and at the age of just 21, his potential is frightening.

In our view, if any forward is worth spending £47m on right now, it’s probably David given the fact it would be a long-term investment.

Aged just 21, he would also fit in nicely with the youthful setup at Arsenal, which involves the 23-year-old Aaron Ramsdale and 22-year-old Martin Odegaard, as well as Hale End gems Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

The New York-born forward – who has been likened to Luis Suarez – is on fire right now, and the Gunners desperately need a goalscorer.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is struggling badly, while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah find themselves out of contract in June.

Mikel Arteta desperately needs someone to finish things off in attack.

In David, the Spaniard might’ve found the man he’s looking for.
