Pontus Jansson still speaks highly of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United, according to Brentford manager Thomas Frank in FourFourTwo.

Leeds will take on Brentford at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday.

The match will see Jansson return to Elland Road and play against his former club.

Leeds sold the Sweden international to Brentford in the summer of 2019 for £5.5 million (The Sun).

Pontus Jansson’s love for Leeds United

Frank told FourFourTwo about Jansson: “I think he’s looking forward to it. He always praises Leeds massively, that was a fantastic time in his career to be there.

“I don’t know if it’s important, but I think he actually fell in love a couple of times in his life: in Malmo, of course, then Leeds and now Brentford, so I don’t know if he is speaking to his wife how he is going to explain that one.

“He’s a man that is capable of having a lot of love in him and I think that is fantastic. For him in some ways, it’s a special feeling to go on the pitch even more than the first time in the Championship because he wanted badly to get promoted with Leeds.”

Leeds fan forever

Frank’s comments suggest that Jansson will forever be a Leeds fans.

That shows the impact that Leeds as a football club have on players.

We know how loyal and big the Elland Road support is.

In our view, Jansson will get a good reception from the Leeds fans on Sunday.

Yes, he is a rival player now, but we believe that Leeds fans still love him.

When Jansson was at Leeds, he played with his heart on his sleeves.

The 30-year-old always gave his all on the pitch and was an important player in the team.

Leeds are five points above the Premier League bottom three at the moment, with Brentford a point above them.
