Lionel Messi’s votes for the Kopa Award have been revealed by Marca, and there are some interesting names on the list, including Liverpool target Jude Bellingham.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Messi voted his former Barcelona teammate Pedri as his first-choice for the award.
The Spaniard ended up winning the Kopa Trophy this time around, and the three points he was awarded by Messi will certainly have helped him on his way.
The Ballon d’Or winner voted another player he knows well in second-place as Nuno Mendes was awarded two points by the Argentine.
The only player in Messi’s top three who he hasn’t played with this year is Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, who is reportedly wanted by Liverpool.
It’s interesting to hear that Messi voted for Bellingham. You could have predicted Pedri and Mendes being his top two a mile off due to their respective links to Barcelona and PSG, but Bellingham is a pick seemingly not influenced by any biases.
Messi is seemingly a big fan of the England international, and if the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner thinks you’re a special player then you must be doing something right.
The future looks bright for the Dortmund midfielder, and we’re sure that Liverpool will be very keen to get their hands on him this summer.
