Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has explained on the club’s official website why Mohamed Elneny started against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Elneny got the nod ahead of Albert Sambi Lokonga in central midfield for Arsenal against Manchester United on Thursday evening.
The Gunners lost the Premier League game 3-2.
Arteta has explained his decision on the 29-year-old defensive midfielder.
The Arsenal boss has added just how well the Egypt international is training and behaving at London Colney.
Arsenal boss comments on Mohamed Elneny
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website: “[To be able] to play a player like him, with that experience that he has playing in this arena. He was incredibly good last year when he played here as well. The way he has been training, and the way he behaves, and because I believe that sometimes we have to rotate things for the game.”

Encouraging
In our opinion, Arteta’s comments on Arsenal defensive midfielder Elneny are really encouraging.
The 29-year-old has struggled for playing time this season and is essentially a squad player now.
Elneny has made only one start and just four substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
The Arsenal no. 25’s father has said on On Time Sports 2 that clubs in Italy and England are interested in signing him.
Besiktas and Galatasaray are also reportedly keen on the Egyptian.
So, in this context, we have to say that we are very impressed to hear how good Elneny has been in training.
It tells a lot about his character and the kind of professional he is.
