Since it first arrived on our screens, Money Heist – aka. La Casa De Papel – has become one of Netflix’s biggest shows and until the arrival of Squid Game, was the streaming service’s most-watched non-English language series.

With each new instalment, the series has gone from strength to strength with season 5 promising to be the biggest chapter yet.

After volume 1 arrived back in September, volume 2 has now dropped on Netflix but just how many episodes are there in Money Heist season 5?

Volume 2 release date and plot

Volume 2 of Money Heist season 5 arrived on Netflix on Friday, December 3rd, 2021, exactly three months since volume 1 ended on a dramatic cliffhanger back in September.

With the heist crew now down a key member, the new episodes will see just how (and if) the remaining survivors will escape the clutches of the army, who stormed the Bank of Spain in the volume 1 finale.

As well as the fates of those in the bank, a huge question mark hangs over the safety of the Professor as he still has the scheming Alicia Sierra for company, and while the pair may have bonded in volume 1, can she really be trusted?

How many episodes are in Money Heist season 5 volume 2?

Volume 2 of Money Heist season 5 will consist of just five episodes in total.

That’s because the full season of 10 episodes has been split into two parts by Netflix.

The first five episodes dropped back on September 3rd while the second half of the season exploded onto Netflix on December 3rd, 2021.

Ahead of the new instalment’s release, Netflix unveiled the titles for the final five episodes in season 5.

  • Escape Valve | Válvulas de escape
  • Wishful Thinking | Ciencia ilusionada
  • The Theory of Elegance | La teoría de la elegancia
  • Pillow Talk | Lo que se habla en la cama
  • A Family Tradition | Una tradición familiar

Will there be a Money Heist season 6?

No, Money Heist will not be returning to Netflix for season 6.

That’s because season 5 has been confirmed as Money Heist’s final instalment.

When Netflix renewed La Casa De Papel for its fifth season, the streaming service also announced that it would serve as the show’s final outing.

Speaking to Variety, Money Heist creator and showrunner Álex Pina said: “We felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself.

“We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes. In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”

Volume 2 of Money Heist season 5 is available to stream now on Netflix after releasing on December 3rd, 2021.
