The father of Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has admitted that Premier League and Serie A clubs have expressed an interest in the Egypt international, speaking to On Time Sports 2.

How clear does Mikel Arteta need to be?

Elneny’s contract may be due to expire at the end of this season but, for the time being, he remains a key part of Arsenal’s plans.

The former Basel ace has featured in each of the last four Premier League games and even started at Old Trafford during Thursday night’s 3-2 defeat to a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Manchester United.

Speculation linking Elneny with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in January continues to swirl, however. Besiktas and Galatasaray are among those to have been linked in recent weeks.

There are also offers on the table from a rival Premier League club, according to Elneny’s father, while the long-serving midfielder could also join former team-mate Lucas Torreira in Italy.

Could Mohamed Elneny join another English club after leaving Arsenal?

“Elneny has good offers from Italy and England, but I will not reveal the names of those clubs,” admits Nasser Elneny.

“It is not true that any offers came from Saudi Arabia or (that we have) negotiated with any team there. The same is true of Turkey.”

Nasser did admit last week that he would love to see his son return to Al Ahly, the biggest and most successful club in Egyptian football.

Elneny started his career at Al Ahly but failed to make a first-team appearance before moving to Europe with Swiss giants Basel.

As it stands, however, the smart money is on Elneny staying put before leaving Arsenal on a free transfer in eight months’ time.
