Antonio Conte has told BBC Sport he is not worried Harry Kane did not score as Tottenham Hotspur beat Brentford 2-0 as the three parts of the striker’s game made him ‘very happy’.

Spurs comfortable beat the Bees in north London on Thursday night after an own goal from Sergi Canos, before Heung-Min Son ended a counter-attacking move he helped to start.

Son laid the ball off to Kane just inside Tottenham territory after Davinson Sanchez picked out the forward. Kane then released Sergio Reguilon as the full-back burst down the wing, who would cross the ball into Son for a simple finish seven-seconds after passing to Kane.

Kane had one true chance to stretch Tottenham’s advantage over Brentford in the second-half. But Bees goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez easily dealt with the striker’s direct attempt.

The £200k-a-week attacker has now failed to find the net in each of his last five Premier League appearances. He has also only scored once over all 12 of his outings this season.

Tottenham boss Conte pleased with Kane performance vs Brentford

Yet despite Kane not scoring, the Tottenham star still pleased Conte with his efforts against Brentford. Three parts of the England captain’s game also chiefly stood out to the Italian.

“I am not worried about Harry Kane,” Conte stated. “He played a really good game, he had chances to score, but the goalkeeper was very good.

“He was in every offensive situation and the point of reference. To have a player like this and to play with his commitment, desire and passion makes me very happy with his performance.

“It doesn’t matter if he scores – as long as he plays in this way, I am delighted. Tottenham is the first thing we need to think about.”

While Conte says he is not concerned by Kane’s lack of goals, the Tottenham boss will have hoped to see the 28-year-old end his drought at home to Brentford on Thursday night.

His only goal of the Premier League season so far came in a 3-2 win at Newcastle United in October. The strike broke a six-game drought to start the term, and also featured Kane’s only assist over 1,008-minutes to date.

Conte surely wants to see Kane getting on the end of Tottenham’s attacks and playing the final pass soon. Spurs have only scored four goals in five games since he last found the net.
