Andy Robertson has described Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold as an ‘unbelievable footballer’.
Alexander-Arnold is one of Europe’s best right-backs and has been for some years.
But as far as attacking goes, the 23-year-old Liverpool academy gem might be the best in his position full stop.
So far this season, the Kirkby gem has 10 assists – and one goal – in 15 games across all competitions.
That right there sums up his importance as an attacking player in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
But Robertson, who is lethal himself on the other flank at left-back, claims that he is always pushing his Liverpool teammate in the belief that he can still get better.
The Scot, who cost £8 million in 2017, told Amazon Prime: “Trent is an unbelievable footballer and he’s getting and better. If I can be a small part of his progression, then I’ll be that because I do push him and I want him to get better.”
One of their own
Alexander-Arnold’s story is all the better because he’s worth easily a nine-figure sum, given his age and quality.
And yet he didn’t cost Liverpool a penny in terms of transfer fee, with the lad coming through their academy.
That’s what makes him such a popular player along Reds fans because, well, he’s one of their own.
And although it’s early days, this is someone you can see spending his entire career at Liverpool.
He has the energy of a one-club man, a rare thing these days.
And if he does, we’re probably talking about another Steven Gerrard as far as adoration from the stands goes.
