Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic revealed that Eddie Nketiah has rejected the club’s latest contract offer.
What’s the story?
Well, the 22-year-old’s contract expires in June, and Arsenal have been trying to tie him down to fresh terms.

The Gunners offered Nketiah the contract on Tuesday, and it was rejected on Wednesday as he aims to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
It comes after the £45,000-a-week man saw a move to Crystal Palace collapse over the summer, with the Eagles opting for Odsonne Edouard.
Mikel Arteta is yet to hand Nketiah a single second of Premier League football this season, which makes the contract offer a strange move.
The England Under-21 international is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs in January.
According to The Athletic, OGC Nice and Borussia Monchengladbach are interested.

Why did Arsenal offer Eddie Nketiah a contract?
In our view, it makes no sense to offer Nketiah a new deal.
Yes, the Gunners probably wanted to extend his contract in order to get a fee for him, but Arteta hasn’t exactly put him in the shop window by freezing him out of the side.
The Gunners also have Folarin Balogun to come into the fold, a forward who arguably has more promise than Nketiah and deserves more game time.
We’re not sure why the Gunners thought Nketiah would accept their latest offer, given how Arteta has treated him this season.
In truth, it’s just a messy situation all round.
For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the news…
Not sure I have understand why we are offering a deal. He can't make match day squads, we have a young striker coming through already and he we will likely sign another striker regardless once Lacazette leaves. Strange. https://t.co/qvfBOV1Nuf

Don’t even know why we even gave him playing time over Balogun, after his antics in the summer.

Cost the club good money.
Should be banished with the kids. https://t.co/ba1pSUAs5U
The fact we’ve offered Nketiah and Laca new contracts is concerning https://t.co/kug4gcMzKi

Not a fan of his, so I’m relatively happy with this outcome. Hopefully we can shift him in January and invest more minutes in those who are our long term future. https://t.co/V8nqgQ2H0D

Refused palace offer in the summer and now a extension so we can get a fee for him . Shameless https://t.co/Xn4nsCjznH

The most depressing part of this story is that a deal was actually on the table.
