Who doesn’t love a good reboot?

We specify “good” because many audiences would argue that there are plenty of reboots that have failed to miss the mark.

This can be for a variety of reasons, whether they fail to capture the spirit of what made the original so great or simply because of the fact they don’t really bring anything new to the franchise’s name.

On the contrary, there has been much praise for the CBS reboot of the 1980s series The Equalizer, which was also rebooted as a movie series with Denzel Washington back in 2014; it earned a sequel in 2018.

It premiered back in February 2021 and season 2 began gracing screens in October.

So far it’s been a good run, but a break has arrived. With that in mind, when is The Equalizer season 2 episode 8 air date?

The Equalizer season 2 episode 8 air date

The eighth episode of The Equalizer season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, January 2nd 2022 at 9 pm ET.

As usual, the installment will be screening on CBS and will also be accessible online courtesy of CBS.com and the CBS app. Alternatively, you can sign up for Paramount+ for $5.99 per month.

They’re also currently offering a seven-day free trial, so if you’re a new customer it may be worth trying the streaming service out.

As for why there’s such a lengthy break, it’s because episode 7 – titled ‘When Worlds Collide’ – marked the fall finale. Essentially, networks are tasked with spreading out episodes to ensure they latest for the entire seasonal schedule.

Nevertheless, fans can rest assured that it’s back on the box this coming January.

How many episodes?

Although an exact amount is yet to be confirmed, it’s likely that The Equalizer season 2 will be made up of 10 episodes in total.

This is the same amount as season 1.

Newsweek notes that there will be no more interruptions once the show resumes in early January. So, with that taken into consideration, the season finale should premiere on Sunday, January 16th 2022.

“We’re glad to be back”

Ahead of the premiere, Tory Kittles (who plays Marcus Dante) spoke with CBS Minnesota and was asked how excited he was to be back in action for another season:

“I can’t tell you how excited we are to be back—to get the response that we’ve gotten after the first season from the fans, from everybody that’s tuning into the show on Sunday nights. It’s incredible!”

He added: “We’re glad to be back and glad to be back in the city of New York doing it.”

Praising the approach, he also said that “we’re ratcheting up the tension, the chemistry between McCall and Dante. Everything is bigger and better. The action increases. There’s so much excitement going on in this season.”

The Equalizer returns to CBS on Sunday, January 2nd 2022 at 9 pm ET.
