Report: Club make £34m bid for Liverpool target who wants Anfield move

FC Barcelona have reportedly made an official offer for RB Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi worth €40m (£34m), with Liverpool also in the hunt for the teenage striker.

According to Sky Sports Germany, the Catalan giants have submitted a formal written offer to the Austrian giants for the Germany international. Adeyemi is the latest talent off the Salzburg production line, and the attacker could be on the move in January.

Barcelona are just one of many sides keen on the striker. According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, Adeyemi is open to a move to Liverpool in 2022, with a transfer to Anfield a prospect the youngster finds ‘appealing’.

However, it looks like Liverpool will miss out on the 19-year-old talent to Barcelona. Borussia Dortmund have also been in the mix for Adeyemi and were at one point viewed as the favourite. But now it appears that Spain will be the next destination for the Salzburg forward.

With Barcelona sat in seventh-place, the Catalan giants can do with all the quality they can get, and Adeyemi could be a solution for the club’s problems in attack. The Austrian Bundesliga star has hit 15 goals in all competitions this season, three of which have come in the UEFA Champions League.

Indeed, this news will no doubt be a blow to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Adeyemi has long been rumoured with a move to Merseyside, and given the Reds lack of depth in attack, the German youngster could have been perfect for the second half of this season.

Barcelona bid for Adeyemi is big for Liverpool

With the Africa Cup of Nations taking Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane away from Liverpool for a month, the Reds will be heavily depleted in the attack. And Adeyemi could have been the perfect player to come in and fill in the holes left by Klopp’s attackers.

The forward can play all across the front three and has the athleticism to impress in the Premier League. But with Barcelona now submitting an official offer, Adeyemi could now be well out of Liverpool’s reach in January.
