Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after they realised that Sadio Mane will be absent when Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park.
What’s the story?
Well, the Africa Cup of Nations is on the horizon, and Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Mane for a few games.
The trio are set to miss the Premier League meetings with Leicester, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Brentford.
However, Sky Sports believe there’s a strong possibility Jürgen Klopp could only be without the trio against the Eagles and the Bees, as the Reds may be granted permission to let them leave Merseyside later than expected.
In Crystal Palace’s case, the supporters are delighted at Mane’s absence, as he simply loves scoring against them.
The £34m man netted against the south Londoners at Anfield earlier this season, but that’s not even the half of it.
Liverpool and Sadio Mane haunt Crystal Palace
Amazingly, Mane actually holds a Premier League record for his efforts against Patrick Vieira’s side.
After scoring at Anfield earlier this season, the 29-year-old has now scored in nine consecutive matches against Crystal Palace.
In doing so, he leapfrogged Robin van Persie’s record of scoring against Stoke in eight consecutive games.
It is quite ridiculous how often Mane scores against the Eagles.
You can understand why the Crystal Palace fans loved hearing about his absence for the game on January 23rd.
For now, let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying…
