Newcastle United have been linked with Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet – and it seems that he will be made available in January.

You’d be better off trying to name players who haven’t been linked with Newcastle since their takeover last month.

With money to spend, Newcastle could bring in some big names – and Lenglet is one name touted for a move.

SPORT claim that Newcastle have made contact to try and bring Lenglet to St James’ Park in January.

Lenglet cost Barcelona £32million in 2018 after shining at Sevilla.

This season though, Lenglet has only managed two La Liga stars as his Barcelona career begins to turn sour.

Mundo Deportivo now claim that 26-year-old Lenglet will be made available in January.

Barcelona are looking to offload players to fund a deal for Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres.

Lenglet is one player on the transfer list as Barcelona prepare to cut ties with the French defender.

That may be music to the ears of decision makers at Newcastle given their interest in Lenglet.

Praised as ‘world class’ by Didier Deschamps, Lenglet still has bags of talent and is far from over-the-hill at just 26.

Left footed and capable of playing out from the back, Lenglet could be a huge coup for Newcastle if they can pull off a deal, which looks a little more likely now.
