Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi winning the 2021 Ballon d’Or ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah and Robert Lewandowski.
Messi, who left Barcelona and joined PSG in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer, has been awarded the 2021 Ballon d’Or.
The Argentina international forward finished ahead of Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
Ronaldo, who returned to Manchester United from Juventus in the summer of 2021, ended up sixth.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah came seventh.

Messi is 34 now, and the forward has not exactly been in great form for PSG in recent weeks.
However, there is no doubt that the Argentina international is one of the greatest footballers of all time.
Some would even say that Messi is the greatest of all time.
Messi won the 2021 Copa America with Argentina.
The forward also scored 40 goals in 2021, including 28 for Barcelona.
Given that Messi is his mid-30s and is still going strong, he would well win the Ballon d”Or next year.
