Demba Ba has predicted Ralf Rangnick will make Manchester United play with “more intensity” following the German’s appointment as interim manager.
Speaking to Premier League Productions after United saw out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday, Ba revealed what he expects to see from the incoming coach.
Rangnick watched from afar as his soon-to-be side kept the league leaders at bay under the instructions of Michael Carrick.
The Red Devils held their own at the home of the Champions League holders and could have returned to Manchester with all three points.
Jadon Sancho scored for the second successive game after capitalising on an error from Jorginho. A debatable penalty was then awarded against United, which was converted by the man who gifted the visitors their lead.
But Chelsea failed to find another way through their guests’ stubborn rearguard, so had to share the spoils.
Ralf to the rescue at Manchester United
Although it was far from a vintage performance, there were plenty of positives to take from United’s evening.

It at least gave Rangnick a greater sense of what he has to work with and the areas that need refining. However, Ba believes United’s approach will change once the German gets his hands on the team.
“(Manchester United) will probably have more verticality than they had (against Chelsea). They will probably have more intensity in their runs,” said the former Newcastle United striker, who was coached by Rangnick during their Hoffenheim days.
“Not that (Man United) don’t do that, because it’s a good team and they are doing some good things, but (Rangnick) is going to bring an extra touch that is his.”
Another improvement Ba suggests Rangnick will bring to Old Trafford regards the development of United’s young, talented stars.
“He’s done it at his previous (clubs). Every time he had young players, he trusted them,” Ba continued.

“(Rangnick) gave them confidence and put them under the spotlight, making sure they perform and succeed at the task he’s giving them.
“I am sure, with so much young talent Manchester (United) has, it’s going to be the same as he’s done before.”
United by Rangnick
If Rangnick can unlock the true powers of United’s youthful contingent, the club could make serious headway in the next few months.
Between Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, there’s acres of quality ready to be unleashed.

However, perhaps it is the more experienced members of the group who need a helping hand?
Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire – among others – have all suffered a dip in form this season.
Bring them back to life and United really will be ready to ride with Rangnick at the wheel.
