Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, according to SuperDeporte.
Modric is out of contract at Madrid at the end of the season, and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in the Croatian midfielder.
Newcastle United also want the 36-year-old, but the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner prefers a move to Manchester City.
Luka Modric would be stunning for Tottenham Hotspur
Okay, so Modric is 36.
However, the Croatia international remains one of the best midfielders on the planet.
After all, it was only in 2018 that the former Tottenham star beat Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the Ballon d’Or.
In our view, Modric would be a great signing for Spurs, who sold him for £30 million to Madrid back in 2012 (BBC Sport).
Modric is a classy operator in the middle of the park who can play at the highest level for a few more years.
Since leaving Spurs for Madrid, the Croatia international midfielder has won the La Liga title twice and the Champions League on four occasions.
Modric would bring that winning mentality to the Tottenham dressing room.
Given Modric’s age, it is clear that he is not a long-term prospect.
What the midfielder would do is make an immediate impact at Tottenham.
And that is what Spurs need right now.
