Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to embarrass a Rangers fan who tried to mock him, after Celtic were knocked out of the Europa League last night.

What’s the story?

Well, after Sutton commented on Scotland’s World Cup draw, one cheeky Rangers fan asked him where he’s been hiding all day, as he hasn’t tweeted much following Celtic’s defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

In hilarious fashion, the 48-year-old silenced the Rangers supporter when explaining that his absence was down to him attending a League Cup Final meeting.

Of course, Rangers failed to reach the League Cup final after losing 3-1 to Hibernian, whereas Celtic progressed with a 1-0 win over St Johnstone.

You can see Sutton’s tweet in full below.

It was such a witty response that the poor fan in question never actually hit back with a comeback of his own.

In that respect, it seems Sutton won this war of words.

In truth, Scottish football was less of a spectacle when Celtic didn’t have Rangers to compete against, as much as the pair dislike each other.

Now, the rivalry is as exciting as ever.

Rangers managed to prevent Celtic from winning the fabled ten-in-a-row last season, but now sit just four points ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, as aforesaid, the Bhoys have outdone the Gers in the League Cup, although the pendulum swings back the other way with Rangers in the Europa League Round of 32.

Bragging rights are split right down the middle, and it’s all to play for this season as Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks to continue Steven Gerrard’s fine work.

Don’t take your eyes off this historic rivalry for one moment this season.
